Overview of Nephrology

Home

Diabetic Nephropathy is a common complication of Type -1 and Type 2 Diabetes.

Diabetic Nephropathy results when diabetes damages blood vessels and other cells in our kidneys.

Kidneys contain millions of tiny blood vessel called glomeruli, which filter waste products from our blood.

Poorly controlled diabetes can cause damage to these blood vessels, leading to diabetic Nephropathy, decreased Kidney function and kidney failure.

Diabetic Nephropathy appears much earlier and more frequently during the course of Type -2 (Non-Insulin dependent) Diabetes in Indians earlier than in other world population.

Blood sugar and blood pressure control, and healthy life style help in preventing and delaying diabetic Nephropathy.

It gives us immense satisfaction for our department to state that we have been successful in educating patients about diabetic kidney disease.

We have been instrumental in prevention, early detection and retarding the progression of diabetic nephropathy in our population.
