About us:

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics comprises qualified post-graduates in food and nutrition and certified diabetes educators with expertise in disease-specific nutrition therapy.

 

We believe that optimum nutrition in both kinds and amounts is the cornerstone for good health and also the cutting edge for preventing many diseases. To achieve this, the nutrition department brings out a comprehensive approach in terms of food, physical activity, and emotional well-being.

Care Process:

The Dietitians aim at providing a multi-disciplinary approach through nutrition screening, intervention, and education. A customized meal plan is planned based on age, gender, height, weight, physical activity, socio-economic status, region-specific meal pattern, dietary history, personal preference, and associated co-morbid conditions.  

The department holds expertise in handling children with type 1 Diabetes. Extensive time is spent in imparting education to the family about the management of Diabetes, age-appropriate care, meal planning, self-administration of insulin injections, self-monitoring of blood glucose, management of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia, physical activity, sick day management, and prevention of complications.

 

Activities conducted by the department:

Our integrated team conducts educational talks at various schools, and organizations, and to the general public. Our team actively participates in various health camps and awareness programs like world diabetes day, dietetics day held by the institute every year.
